My Challenge

I approached Rich because I’d had a few setbacks at work which had impacted on my confidence. I was also experiencing stress and pressure at work which let to me worrying about my performance and finding it hard to switch off or to sleep at night.

How we worked together

We started our coaching relationship with an introductory session. Rich carefully listened to me and asked questions, which helped me to elaborate more on my feelings and emotions. At the end of the session, he proposed a coaching plan focusing on exploring my specific problems and issues. We held bi-weekly sessions for 1 hour. After every session Rich sent me notes from our discussion which was extremely helpful as a reference point. We did a few coaching exercises, which had a profound positive impact on me and helped me to discover more about myself.

What I've learnt

Everyone has negative thoughts at times. Rich taught me a few techniques on how to stop negative thoughts taking over. I use them all the time now, and the more I use them the better I become - practice makes perfect. By allowing these negative thoughts to come and go without hooking me I’m able to neutralise the effect they have on me. I’ve also explored the balance between control and influence which has helped to minimise and eliminate some of my worries. I found the values exercise to be really helpful as it brought some focus and clarity about the things that matter most to me. I feel more in control of how I want to show up and how I want to live my life.

The outcome from my coaching

The coaching with Rich has been really incredible. I feel a completely different person. I feel more in control of my life, empowered and inspired. I have a set of tools which I can continue to use when necessary to reframe any negative thoughts that pop up in my head and help me to challenge if they are fact or just assumptions about situations that I’m making. I am so much happier now!
